In 2011, a track switch monitoring system was developed that can remotely monitor the track switch, which was pointed out as the cause of KTX derailment at Gwangmyeong Station, in real time even on general railways.

OTS (CEO Song Moo-sang), an information and communication company, announced that it has succeeded in developing a 'slot-type track converter monitoring system' that can read and recognize current and voltage display information of a train track converter controller in real time with a simple operation button.

OTS developed this technology with the support of the Korea Railroad Research Institute and Daejeon Metro, has been steadily working on performance improvement, and product delivery has been made.  As a "slot type", one set was supplied to Seodaejeon Station and Guam Station respectively both operated by Daejeon Metropolitan Corporation. The initial version of 'One Board Type' supplied 18 sets to subway line 2 operated by Seoul Metro in 2009.

This monitoring system can automatically measure and detect the current and voltage status of the track converter up to nine channels by pressing a button. In addition, it is possible to easily extract current measurement data of the on-site operation facility device of the track controller required for cause analysis in the event of an accident or failure. When adding railway facilities, it is easy to expand and as it is remotely controlled indoors, it also has the advantage of not being affected by the natural environment such as snow or rain.

Existing products have data detection devices next to external devices installed with railway track switching devices, which can cause malfunctions under the influence of snow, rain, dust, and vibration.

Domestic demand for track changers is about 8,000 units. This market is dominated by large companies and mid-sized companies.
"Most railroad track converters operated by Korail and Urban Railroad Corporation have inconvenience in having maintenance personnel directly go to the site to measure the operation status of the controller and determine whether it is a failure," said Song Moo-sang.  And he adds "The introduction of this system will increase the reliability of aged equipments and enable preventive inspections,

President Song also added, "The accurate and precise data will greatly help relieve the psychological pressure of field managers."
